07 Jul Decadent Cacao, Banana and Avocado Smoothie
As we are on the topic of Diabetes and substituting healthier options into our diet, we have decided to share a healthy smoothie option that you can have for breakfast or a mid afternoon snack. Long gone are the days of reaching for a sugar laden chocolate bar or muffin. This will keep you going for hours, without the added sugar or spikes in blood sugar levels.
Cacao is a great source of magnesium and provides you with that yummy chocolaty taste! The addition of avocado makes the smoothie rich and creamy and it a great source of healthy fats into our diet. They’re also great sources of vitamins E, K and B. Avocados are great for regulating blood sugar levels and great source of fibre! Manuka Honey is very antibacterial and great for our skin. You’ll almost feel naughty drinking it, but its totally healthy!
Makes 1 large glass:
– 1/2 a cup of almond milk
– 1 ripe banana (can be frozen)
– 1/2 an avocado
– 4 medjool dates
– 2 teaspoons of cacao
